Fertiliser Distribution
In Ethiopia, Amlaku has been working through Bricks for Life to distribute seeds and fertiliser to farmers around Baregota and Shu-meda villages. The video shown above depicts farmers arriving at one of the distribution sites to collect fertiliser for their crops.
According to Amlaku, there has been strong crop growth following the provision of seeds and fertiliser. Community members are anticipating increased production, although they are on the watch for changes in weather patterns due to El Niño.
Soap Production
In addition to Bricks for Life’s fertiliser and seeds project, Amlaku has been developing his soap business for increased local distribution in Lalibela town. Despite reports of growing security tensions in the area, which are preventing external distribution, the soap company has been successful at local distribution. So far, local sales have been able to support the business’s expenses.
They hope that the security situation will improve soon and allow the company to begin producing affordable menstrual hygiene kits for women and girls.
