Anglican Missions is delighted to announce that it has received a grant from the United Thank Offering (UTO) to support a water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiative in Ontong Java (Lord Howe) Informal Settlement, Honiara, Solomon Islands.
This project will focus on practical and sustainable solutions to the WASH challenges facing the local community. Due to its geographical positioning and informal nature, the settlement faces coastal erosion, regular flooding, increased disease risk, and unsafe water and sanitation options, which heighten community tension. This project seeks to address these challenges through several practical actions including the construction of flood-proof latrines, establishment of a rubbish collection service, construction/maintenance of water catchment systems, and promotion of health and hygiene education.

This funding will enable us to implement a project that will hopefully provide community residents with greater resilience and dignity during such a vital time. ”
