Partner Update 2/10/26
At Movi Health Centre, Clinic upgrades are well under way. Our local partners have been working diligently to restore power and water, focusing on solar installations and water infrastructure restoration.
Before the Upgrades

Before our local partners began upgrading, the health clinic had two severe limitations. The first was electricity; the existing battery and solar lights provided barely enough to power the dim clinic lighting for more than 3 hours into the evening. This meant that urgent medical cases, especially mothers in labour, had to cope with receiving medical care in the dark. The second limitation was water; as shown above, the previous roofing, catchment system, and piping were either broken or deteriorating.
Work Underway
Since July, our local partners have been working to repair these systems to provide the basic necessities of electricity and running water.

First Phase Completed
As of last week, the first phase of repairs to the clinic is almost complete. Movi Health Centre now has a fully functioning solar system, which is able to power the clinic throughout the entire night. New wiring and electrical sockets have also been installed, enabling the staff to utilise the electricity for necessary medical equipment.
Additionally, the water catchment system has been fixed. Now that the roofing and piping is repaired, rainwater can be funneled into tanks for further use. This is especially vital right now, as the drought impacts of El Niño are being felt in Movi, according to another partner update. Work is still underway on a pipe that will connect the clinic to a nearby spring, which is almost complete.

We are extremely encouraged by these repairs, and have been made aware of the difference they are already making to the patients and staff. We are grateful for our local implementing team for their diligent engagement and hard work. One of the clinic’s health workers, Natasha, shared an encouraging note with us about the difference that the upgrades are making:

Moving forward, we will be supporting the team with strengthening the water pressure coming from the nearby spring. We will then begin with the next phase of repairs.
