Emergency Appeal

Love and compassion are apolitical.

The one inevitable outcome of armed conflict is the significant loss of human life and dignity – on any side.

Through your donation to the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza, you can put love and compassion for others first. You can ensure that people are put first, to receive the food, medicine and emergency care that everyone deserves.

Violent conflict and war has torn this part of the world to pieces. You can help the Anglican Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East put it back together.

Love and compassion are apolitical – donate now.

There are no winners in war.

This appeal is not about supporting a side or taking a position. It’s about supporting the preservation of human life and dignity through access to emergency healthcare. We’re joining together with a number of Anglican Agencies to raise funds for Al Ahli Hospital.

Our response is driven by humanitarian principles: humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality.

17th October Rocket Strike

Initial reports indicate hundreds dead or injured

The hospital was hit at about 7.30pm local time. It was packed with people injured in Israeli strikes, as well as civilians seeking shelter who believed the hospital grounds to be safer than their homes.

The strain this puts on an already unbearable humanitarian crisis cannot be understated.

The team at Al Ahli hospital are scheduling their staff to ensure 24 hours a day care. Because it is not possible for aid workers to enter Gaza at this time, the hospital’s staff are working around the clock, struggling with the effects of exhaustion and against limited resources in a conflicted area of ongoing military operations. There are very few supplies left – only enough to last for another week.

To respond to the increasing need, staff need urgent medications and other resources to provide basic health care during this crisis.

How Can I Help?

Where your donations will go:

Your donations will go towards highly practical support for the hospital and its staff, as they treat any and all casualties of the conflict, including:

  • Medical supplies, particularly bandages for burns
  • Psychosocial support for patients and staff who are exhausted, traumatised and scared
  • Food and water supplies
  • Fuel for generators, which the hospital is running on due to disrupted electrical supply
  • Funds to pay extra emergency care staff

“The situation is severely critical… life in Gaza is paralysed, with all institutions and private sectors closed, affecting the people’s access to basic needs… “

– Suhaila Tarazi, Al Ahli Hospital Director

No. We do not exclude help based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or any other qualifier other than pure need. We are committed to stringent reporting process to ensure we remain as transparent as possible, including how and where funds are distributed.
We act primarily as a mobiliser of resources and funds. Through partnerships with other development and aid agencies in New Zealand, as well as the Anglican Church, we are able to mobilise physical resources like food, water and tools to where they are needed. We also mobilise the church to give financially to all those in need, and use these funds to purchase required items. This appeal is done alongside similar appeals from other Anglican Agencies.
We will keep you updated about the outcomes of the projects through our newsletter and articles on our website. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with the progress of this appeal.
