The hospital was hit at about 7.30pm local time. It was packed with people injured in Israeli strikes, as well as civilians seeking shelter who believed the hospital grounds to be safer than their homes.
The strain this puts on an already unbearable humanitarian crisis cannot be understated.
The team at Al Ahli hospital are scheduling their staff to ensure 24 hours a day care. Because it is not possible for aid workers to enter Gaza at this time, the hospital’s staff are working around the clock, struggling with the effects of exhaustion and against limited resources in a conflicted area of ongoing military operations. There are very few supplies left – only enough to last for another week.
To respond to the increasing need, staff need urgent medications and other resources to provide basic health care during this crisis.
