Operating across Mozambique’s most affected districts: Maputo City, Maputo Province, and Gaza Province.
Beginning in October 2025, Mozambique endured a severe cyclonic season that culminated in catastrophic flooding across the Southern region in January 2026. Following extreme rainfall reaching 400mm in just four days, the major rivers of Mozambique overflowed. The floods, which caused the government to activate a National Red Alert, have since affected over 700,000 people, resulting in 124 deaths and the destruction of over 80,000 households.
Anglican Missions has donated $5000 from our emergency fund to support the efforts of the local Anglican churches in the Dioceses of Libombos and Maciene. Through the churches’ Anglican Social Action (ASA) group, they have been supporting families through their project “Hope Restored.”
Operating across Mozambique’s most affected districts: Maputo City, Maputo Province, and Gaza Province.
Project “Hope Restored” is helping families in Boane, KaMavota & KaMubukwana, Chókwè; Xai-xai and Chibuto. Its objective is three-fold: immediate food security, preventative hygiene, (WASH), and the recovery of agricultural livelihoods. ASA has been working to deliver food baskets containing high-energy foods such as maize meal, beans, peanuts, and sugar. They are also providing hygiene kits of soap and toothpaste, and agricultural-support kits with seeds for maize, cowpea, and vegetables. This aid is a vital lifeline to vulnerable families who are struggling with food security.
