Anglican Missions is contributing $5,000 to support the Anglican Church of Congo in preventing the spread of Ebola.
The Anglican Church of Congo is responding to a new Ebola outbreak affecting communities in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The outbreak has been confirmed in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, areas already facing the impacts of conflict, displacement and limited access to healthcare. Cases have also been reported in neighbouring Uganda, highlighting the regional nature of the threat.
The Anglican Church is playing an important role in supporting prevention efforts. Through its network of churches, schools, clergy, volunteers and health facilities, the church is helping communities access accurate information, adopt safer health practices and reduce the spread of misinformation and fear.
The church’s trusted presence in local communities enables it to reach people who may otherwise have limited access to public health information and services.
