As of January 2026, Al Ahli Hospital continues to operate.

Al Ahli Anglican Hospital is currently open, providing medical assistance and shelter to those in Northern Gaza. They continue to staff 24/7 shifts with high caseload pressure. This includes wounded and traumatised patients and patients with infectious diseases, burns, and chronic illnesses.  According to WHO, over 20,000 people in Gaza currently require limb reconstruction surgery to avoid permanent disability.

Rafah Crossing Opened:

  • On February 1st the Rafah crossing was opened for medical patients in Gaza to evacuate to external hospitals in Egypt.
  • This does not include permissions for the entry of immediate and sustained humanitarian access into Gaza

Sustained Illness:

  • Food insecurity remains a prevalent issue with serious long-term risks for children’s physical and cognitive development
  • Gaps in winter preparedness as well as overcrowding and poor conditions in shelters are contributing to preventable deaths and a sharp rise in acute respiratory infections
  • Acute respiratory infections account for 68% of reported communicable disease cases, alongside a prevalence of acute watery diarrhea and skin diseases from poor hygiene
  • There remains a shortage of essential medicines, particularly for chronic diseases

Critical needs at Al Ahli and St. Luke’s hospitals:

  • Essential medicines, consumables, and diagnostic supplies
  • Fuel and solar components to maintain electricity for critical hospital units
  • Salaries for medical and support staff
