The Anglican Church of Congo is responding to a new Ebola outbreak affecting communities in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The outbreak has been confirmed in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, areas already facing the impacts of conflict, displacement and limited access to healthcare.
As of 31 May 2026, health authorities in DRC have confirmed 282 Ebola cases and 42 deaths. Cases have also been reported in neighbouring Uganda, highlighting the regional nature of the threat.
The Anglican Church is playing an important role in supporting prevention efforts. Through its network of churches, schools, clergy, volunteers and health facilities, the church is helping communities access accurate information, adopt safer health practices and reduce the spread of misinformation and fear.
